Rainbow Run Funds
The Rainbow Run supports UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in their mission of providing the highest quality family-centered care to children and families. Specifically, money raised through the Rainbow Run goes to supporting three key programs:
Key strategic hospital priorities that will help transform children's lives; Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute, Pediatric Heart Center, Maternal/Fetal Medicine in partnership with UH MacDonald Women's Hospital.
Research and recruitment of talent; bringing the best and brightest medical leaders to our community to take care of our children. We are proud to support the discoveries made at Rainbow, which change how pediatric care is delivered here in Northeast Ohio and around the world.

Heather & Anthony Catanese’s Story:
When Heather was 22 weeks pregnant with their third son, Lorenzo, he was diagnosed with Severe Aortic Stenosis, Severe Aortic & Mitral Valve Regurgitation, and evolving Hypo-plastic Left Heart Syndrome. Babies born with these congenital heart defects have a less than 10% survival rate to the age of 6 months. Heather and Anthony were told that it would be unlikely that Lorenzo would survive the pregnancy.
At 24 weeks, Heather underwent a fetal intervention procedure. Her extraordinary team of doctors from The Congenital Heart Collaborative Children’s Heart Clinic performed a Fetal Aortic Valvuloplasty in utero to open up his aorta and allow the blood to flow correctly through his heart. They were lucky to achieve not only the best outcome, but one of the most successful ever achieved from this type of procedure. For more information about Lorenzo’s story, please click the links below.
In their infinite gratitude, Heather and Anthony started The Fetal Heart Foundation with the hope that Lorenzo's success can be repeated for many more families in the future. Heather and Anthony appreciate any support their foundation receives, and they would be happy to discuss their journey and mission.
Stories such as Lorenzo’s are the inspiration for the Rainbow Run, and it is the hope of the MHS Student Council to raise money to support the tremendous work carried out by University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
